President Buhari appluads China for 'becoming an indispensable force in the committee of nations'

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed delight at the mutually beneficial cooperation that exists between Nigeria and China. In a letter of felicitation with His Excellency, President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China, on the occasion of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President Buhari lauded China for "becoming an indispensable force in the comity of nations." The Chinese President is also the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC. The letter from President Buhari states in part: "On behalf of the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I have the pleasure to send our warmest congratulations to you and through you to all the 2287 delegates and the 89 million party members on the auspicious occasion of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Iran's president blasts Trump over threats to cancel Nuclear deal

On Friday night, US president, Donald Trump held a press conference where he threatened to withdraw from Iran's Nuclear deal if the U.S congress doesn't make corrections and adjustments to the accord. The 10 year Nuclear deal formed by the Obama Administration, ensures that Iran stops its Nuclear program for grants and aids from the U.S government, but Trump says the deal is the most 'one sided deal he's ever seen' and believes Iran is the only beneficiary from the deal. Trump also claimed in his speech that Iran hasn't been complying with their own part of the agreement but IAEA, the UN nuclear watchdog that monitors nuclear programs, says  that Tehran has been complying with its obligations under the deal. 2,000 Zambian villagers to sue UK mining company in London

At leaset 2,000 Zambian villagers have been given the go ahead to sue mining giant Vedanta in a UK court. The villagers who live in Nchanga in the country's Copperbelt province are suing for injury and damages to their property for what they say is numerous and ongoing toxic discharges around where they live. Vedanta Resources has an asset base of almost $40bn (£30bn) spread across the world and Its Zambian subsidiary Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) had appealed against a ruling in May 2016 when a High Court judge decided the claim could proceed. KCM which employs 16,000 people in Zambia had wanted the claims to be heard in the country. Reuters however reports that the judgment will play a significant role in defining the future liability of multinational companies based in the UK for alleged human rights and environmental abuses outside the country.
