FIFA bans Equatorial Guinea from 2019 Women World Cup

FIFA has banned  Equatorial Guinea from the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France for fielding 10 ineligible players and using forged documents. The players all took part in qualifying for the 2016 Olympic women’s tournament in Brazil.  FIFA has also imposed a fine of $102,000 on the country’s football association.  The two-time champions will not feature at the 2020 Olympics and the next two Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in 2018 and 2020.

President Buhari appoints Aishah Ahmad as new CBN Deputy Governor

President Buhari has appointed Mrs Aishah Ahmad as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), subject to Senate Confirmation. She is to replace the former Deputy Governor, who retired early this year. In accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007, President Buhari urged the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to consider the expeditious confirmation of Mrs Ahmad, who would then resume work immediately. The President has also written the Senate, seeking the confirmation of appointment of members of the Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN. They are to replace four members, whose tenure expires at the end of this year. The nominees ar e: Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju; Dr Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi; Dr Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr Asheikh A. Maidugu. After Senate clearance, the new members of the Monetary Policy Committee are to resume duties in January 2018.

President Trump is taking his battle with the media to a whole new level. Today, he tweeted that, ' Why Isn't the Senate Intel Committee looking into the Fake News Networks in OUR country to see why so much of our news is just made up-FAKE!'. Then he went on to call out NBC News over reports of Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson threatening to resign. He said, 'Rex Tillerson never threatened to resign. Vector has addressed his alleged beef with fellow rapper M.I Abaga in a new interview. Recall that last month, Nigeria's finest rappers dragged each other on Instagram over MI Abaga's podcast with Pulse TV where he gave an unpleasant response when asked why there hasn't been a collabo between himself and Vector. Now speaking in a recent episode of “Street Hop” on Hip TV, Vector said he has the utmost respect for M.I as one of the top rappers in Africa but it absolutely ends there... NFL player, Cam Newton under fire for laughing at a female reporter

Cam Newton , quarterback for NFL team  Carolina Panthers is under fire for laughing at a female reporter's use of football terminology during a press conference. Reporter Jourdan Rodrigue, who covers the team for the Charlotte Observer , asked Newton about running receiver Devin Funchess embracing “the physicality of his routes." Newton laughed abit and responded, "it’s funny to hear a female talk about routes, like … it’s funny.” The 2015 NFL Most Valuable Player twice told the assembled press that it was “funny” to hear a woman use the term before answering her question. “I don't think it's ‘funny’ to be a female and talk about routes. I think it's my job,” Rodrigue said on Twitter following the conference. Nigerian man goes to his late dad's grave in Imo state to fight him for including his daughters in his will

A son has taken to his late father's grave to confront him for sharing his properties and including his four daughters in the will. The man, simply identified as Emmy, is the first son of the seven children born to late Gabriel Okwukogwu. After his father was buried in their hometown in Orlu, Imo State and the will was read, Emmy, incensed that his dad had included his four daughters in Anambra state in the will, returned to his hometown from Lagos where he resides to inform his father's spirit that he has no intention of complying with the will. Europe slaps Amazon with tax bill of nearly $300 million

The European Union has ordered Amazon to pay 250 million euros, or about $294 million, plus interest, to the country of Luxembourg, where Amazon’s European operations are located. This came after EU Commission found that Amazon benefited from an illegal tax arrangement with Luxembourg. Turns out Luxembourg gave illegal tax benefits to Amazon worth around EUR 250 million. On Wednesday, EU regulators, who are cracking down on U.S. tech giants’ abilities to avoid higher tax rates by organizing in tax haven nations, imposed a massive tax penalty on the tech giant Amazon. "Amazon was allowed to pay four times less tax than other local companies subject to the same national tax rules" and "this is illegal under EU State aid rules," EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said in an emailed statement.
