Iran's president blasts Trump over threats to cancel Nuclear deal

On Friday night, US president, Donald Trump held a press conference where he threatened to withdraw from Iran's Nuclear deal if the U.S congress doesn't make corrections and adjustments to the accord. The 10 year Nuclear deal formed by the Obama Administration, ensures that Iran stops its Nuclear program for grants and aids from the U.S government, but Trump says the deal is the most 'one sided deal he's ever seen' and believes Iran is the only beneficiary from the deal. Trump also claimed in his speech that Iran hasn't been complying with their own part of the agreement but IAEA, the UN nuclear watchdog that monitors nuclear programs, says  that Tehran has been complying with its obligations under the deal. "The claim by the president of United States regarding Iran's non-compliance has no international relevance or credibility, since the IAEA, as the sole authority to conduct such monitoring and verification, has repeatedly conf...

2,000 Zambian villagers to sue UK mining company in London

At leaset 2,000 Zambian villagers have been given the go ahead to sue mining giant Vedanta in a UK court. The villagers who live in Nchanga in the country's Copperbelt province are suing for injury and damages to their property for what they say is numerous and ongoing toxic discharges around where they live. Vedanta Resources has an asset base of almost $40bn (£30bn) spread across the world and Its Zambian subsidiary Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) had appealed against a ruling in May 2016 when a High Court judge decided the claim could proceed. KCM which employs 16,000 people in Zambia had wanted the claims to be heard in the country. Reuters however reports that the judgment will play a significant role in defining the future liability of multinational companies based in the UK for alleged human rights and environmental abuses outside the country.

Donald Trump in fiery speech threatens to withdraw from Iran nuclear deal, unless congress and allies fix major flaws that don't favour America

U.S president, Donald Trump on Friday night, said he would stop certifying Iran's Nuclear agreement with the United Nations to Congress, and he would totally cancel the US' participation in the 'one-sided' deal unless Congress amends the deal to fix up major flaws agreed with the Iranian government by Obama's administration. In Trump's hardcore speech on Friday, he first of all listed Iran's alleged crimes committed for over a decade and said he would no longer certify the Nuclear agreement agreed by Obama's administration to Congress, but he stopped short of cancelling US participation in the deal- following advice from his top administration officials, and major European leaders. ''Based on the factual record I have put forward, I am announcing today that we cannot and will not make this certification. We will not continue down a path whose predictable conclusion is more violence, more terror and the very real threat of...

Romance Scam: Two Nigerian nationals arrested in Bangkok for posing as rich Europeans to defraud women on social media (photos)

Two Nigerian nationals were arrested by The Immigration Bureau (IB) on Thursday , in Bangkok for allegedly running romance scams. The suspects -- Lawrence Osita Nwaenyi, 32, and Peter Stanley Chukwuebuka, 33, were arrested at a condominium in Prawet district. According to IB acting commissioner Suthipong Wongpin, the duo allegedly used social media and chat programmes to trick unsuspecting women into wiring money to them. Pol Lt Gen Suthipong Wongpin said the suspects had opened Facebook pages using false identities. They posed as rich Europeans and approached and befriended female Facebook users. If the women agreed to a chat, the suspects would make romantic overtures and express interest in investing in businesses with the victims. In most cases, the IB acting commissioner said, the suspects told the victims they had gifts for them, sending them photoshopped pictures to make the scam look believable. Other gang members would then call the victims, pre...

Handshake For APC Thieves, Handcuff for PDP Suspects - By Reno Omokri

Read his article below... Last week I wrote about what has turned out to be the biggest corruption scandal in African history-the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation $26 billion can of worms.   Little did I know when writing that piece that the matter should enter into another absurd stage. Maikanti Baru, the Group Managing (Damaging?) Director of the NNPC caused a response to be made to Ibe Kachikwu which proved that both Kachikwu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are mere figure heads. Essentially, Mr. Baru's defense in the saga is that he got approval from President Buhari to bypass the NNPC board and award the contracts at a time that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was supposed to be the acting President.   If what Baru said is true and President Muhammadu Buhari approved contracts from his London sickbed, then what Presidency was Osinbajo acting? A Presidential movie? So this is what President Buhari meant when he cited the Vice Pre...

Google lifts restrictions on YouTube from showing Swaziland's reed dance which features bare-breasted women

Google has lifted restrictions on YouTube from showing Swaziland's famous reed dance which features bare-breasted women. A representative from Google was quoted saying that they decided to remove the restriction on the videos because "it was not its policy to restrict nudity in such instances where it is culturally or traditionally appropriate". The move was in response to a campaign led by Lazi Dlamini , the head of TV Yabantu , an online video production company which produces content that “protects, preserves and restores African values”. Its YouTube channel which launched in 2016 had been adding 3,000-4,000 new subscribers every month until the platform started to flag its content as inappropriate.  It also put a label on the channel advising advertisers that its content was “not suitable for most advertisers”. According to Mr Dlamini, he had contacted Google to say that he was simply reflecting the cultural values of his community but ...
