US Embassy says 'Our laws don’t see IPOB as a Terrorist group'

United States Government has said it does not consider the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist organisation. The spokesman for the American Embassy in Nigeria, Russell Brooks, told Sunday Punch on Friday that the US was committed to Nigeria’s unity and would support a peaceful resolution of any crisis in the country. He said, 'the United States Government is strongly committed to Nigeria’s unity. Important political and economic issues affecting the Nigerian people, such as the allocation of resources, are worthwhile topics for respectful debate in a democracy. Within the context of unity, we encourage all Nigerians to support a de-escalation of tensions and peaceful resolution of grievances. The Indigenous People of Biafra is not a terrorist organisation under US law'. The US embassy, however, declined to comment on whether the Federal Government had asked it to treat IPOB as a terrorist organisation and to block money sent to IPOB fro

Photo: 15-year-old boy arrested for having sex with goat

Kabiru Idi, a 15 year old teenager has been arrested by the Niger state Police Command for having sex with a goat. Idi who lives in Gbeganu area of Bosso Local Government Area of the state was caught having sex with the goat which is said to be one of the animals that roam the neighborhood. Suspecting neighbours reported him to the police operatives attached to Kpakungu Division in Minna who following a tip-off got to Idi’s residence to catch him in the act. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Babalola Adewole who confirmed the incident applauded the operatives attached to Kpakungu police Division on patrol for apprehending the suspect adding that the suspect would be charged to court on conclusion of investigations.

Controversial Nigerian rapper,  Eedris Abdulkareem  has shared his thoughts on the current  Biafra  struggle and its leader,  Nnamdi Kanu. In an exclusive interview with LIB, Eedris says , 'I think Nnamdi Kanu is fighting a very good cause but in a very bad way. He's still on bail, so what he should have basically done is to peacefully put together a referendum by calling on people who believe in what he's doing and also seek support from a couple of countries and take it up non violently'. He went on to say, ' you can't be out on bail and be agitating for something because that could basically lead us to war and we don't need war in this country right now. If we are not careful, what happened in 1967 may repeat itself because we have a governmnet that does not know how to go about bringing people together. Jamaican athlete,   Usain Bolt who   is the only sprinter to capture the 100- and 200-metre track titles at three consecutive Olympics and holds the world record of 9.58 seconds in the 100 and 19.19 in the 200 seems pretty confident despite the fact that he's retired. At a recent event in Japan, Bolt spoke about hs achievements and records saying,   'I think they’re going to last a while. I think our era with   Yohan Blake, Justin Gatlin   and   Asafa Powell   and all these guys was the best era of athletes. If it was going to be broken, it would have been broken in this era, so I think I have at least 15 to 20 more years'.  Bolt continued to say,   'I have nothing to prove, that’s the main reason I left track and field. After you do everything you want there is no reason to stick around'.
